What is REX Certification?
REX Certification is short for Registered Exporter System Certificate. It is a document used in international trade signifying the self-certification system established by the European Union (EU). The REX Certification replaces the traditional method of authorities issuing certificates of origin. Instead, exporters are now required to provide a REX certificate of origin, which is also referred to as a 'statement of origin'. In short, the exporters provide a REX Certificate which acts as a certificate of origin for exporting products into the EU.

What is a REX Number and REX Statement?
The REX number, obtained upon completion of registration, is a unique code comprising 20 digits, commencing with "INREX". This code incorporates the exporter's IEC, an alphabetical representation of the local administrator, and a numeric identifier for the local user as part of the registration process.
"REX Certification vs. Traditional Certificates of Origin"
REX Certification is part of the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP), allowing exporters in beneficiary countries to self-certify goods' origin for preferential treatment. On the other hand, Traditional Certificates of Origin are issued by authorities to certify goods' origin, required for trade agreements beyond GSP, and often necessitate third-party verification.
